I had an interesting customer meeting yesterday that I thought was worth sharing.
The customer is a committed user of the Microsoft SharePoint platform and has deployments spread globally. Each region had actively taken to SharePoint to manage collaborative content, but they were experiencing problems in managing ownership and in particular determining which server held the latest version of a particular document.
By way of an example they described how a project plan was being used to monitor progress by two teams based in London and New York. Both teams were updating the plan and storing it locally, and very quickly two variants of the plan emerged. This problem is raised by our prospects and customers again and again and is referred to as the ‘single point of truth’.
Using Infonic GR to efficiently manage replication removes this problem as users in all sites can be assured that the content that they are accessing is the latest and greatest project plan, sales forecast, engineering diagram, operational status…..

Another week of travelling, this time attending a number of partner meetings culminating in the industry kick off for Coalition Warrior Interoperability Demonstration (CWID) 2011.
We are proud to have been involved as part of this event in the UK for the last 5 years where we have been used to replicate trial military operational data over a variety of challenging networks.

Just arrived back from LandWarNet 2010 that was hosted this year in Tampa Florida USA.
The scale of this exhibition and conference is vast with satellite network and other suppliers from all over the world.
As with all of these military events, the difficulties of replicating mission data over challenging networks is a common discussion point.
Infonic were sharing an exhibition space with Segovia and were located in a Drash military tent outside of the conference hall. 100 degrees F outside 65 degrees F of air conditioned air inside.

It’s an exciting time here at Infonic GR. We are now in the final phase of completing our Infonic GR 2010 release that includes comprehensive support for the new SharePoint 2010 platform.
Luckily we have benefited from external beta testing from some of our existing customers, so we are confident that we have a robust solution to SharePoint 2010 replication requirements. We are also thankful to Microsoft for including us as part of the select SharePoint 2010 Technology Adoption Program that provided early access to the developing platform back in November 2008.

Hi there,
Welcome to the new Infonic GR blog.
As part of this new dialog we hope to share some of the emerging business issues that are driving the requirement for content replication, as well as communicating the plans around our product road map and core developments plans.
In this blog, I am going to write “GR” whenever I mean our “Geo-Replicator software” – it’s easier for me (less key strokes!) and probably for you, too.
We hope that you find this channel of information interesting and invite comments and thoughts to GRblog@infonic.com .
