Regs4ships offer a Safety Management System based on Microsoft SharePoint 2007.
Satellite bandwidth is expensive and intermittent. Deploying the SharePoint based Safety Management System effectively presents a problem for fleets of ships at sea with limited access to communications.
The Regs4Ships team identified Infonic Geo-Replicator™ as the best available technology to address the challenge of providing users on remote ships with uninterrupted access to the SharePoint based Safety Management System.
To address this problem and to extend the portal to users with no or little network bandwidth, the USMC has deployed Infonic’s Geo-Replicator software on its maintainer’s laptops in the Gulf region.

- Group documents held in the central SharePoint system need to be accessed easily by its distribution network of over 350 field agencies situated all over Bretagne and Pay-de-la-Loire.
Groupama Loire Bretagne supplies products and services which include insurance for agriculture, automobiles, housing and commercial offices, professional indemnity, and other financial products. The head office is at Rennes, and uses the group Microsoft SharePoint system for storage and maintenance of insurance policy conditions schedules, payout levels, and similar contractual documents for each product. These constitute hundreds of documents which need to be kept up to date and available for use by the field agencies in the region.
The field agencies need to be able to use these documents on their laptops when they are in front of their customers, but SharePoint does not have any inbuilt functionality for offline access. GIE Cibama, the software group in Mordelles who provide systems development for Groupama Loire Bretagne, identified Geo-Replicator software as having the functionality needed to meet the business’s needs. Importantly, the Geo-Replicator software reproduces SharePoint offline with the same look and feel as online, so no special training would be required for the service agents.
After an intensive period of testing by GIE Cibama and a preliminary pilot roll-out to a limited number of agencies, the Geo-Replicator solution was deployed to all 380 agencies during 2009. Geo-Replicator’s standard SharePoint Search functionality was customized by Infonic’s development team to suit the agencies’ needs.
